Golden Week

Well, we don't have much of a Golden "WEEK" this year, but we do have four days off in a row. That will be nice. I don't really have any plans yet. I'm trying to plan a get-together with some friends I haven't seen in a while, but so far we haven't been able to arrange anything.

What are your plans for Golden Week? Are you doing anything special?

By the way, I'm planning to go to this event next Friday. Take a look at the information below. If you are interested, please come.

The Kamakura Branch of Amnesty International is proud to be hosting an informative evening that will include talks, a short film, a dance performance, and a display of photos taken by street children in India. We hope you will be able to attend.

As part of Peace Boat`s "Art 9 Peace Divine Tour", three young adults and their teacher, from India`s Born Free School, are making their first tour in Japan. Born Free School in Bangalore, India, which started in 2005 offers training in various performance arts to street children. The aim of the school is to empower these children and help build their strength emotionally and spiritually through the window of art. There are 24,600,000 child laborers in the world, and half of them are in India.

The three teens on this tour were child laborers and/or street children, forced by circumstances to drop out of school, and so their future seemed very bleak. Thanks to the Born Free School, they have returned to school and have also gained skill and experience in an art form. Their motto is: "education through entertainment and entertainment through education"

admission: free
contributions: accepted (all to the Born Free School)
date Friday, May 9
time: 7:00 - 9:30PM
place: Kamakura Shogai Gakushu Center 4F (2 minutes from East of JR Kamakura Station)

Sorry to delay to comment your article.
I'm interested in child labor and education.
Literacy in Japan is the top in the world, but there are many children and adults who cannot be educated inspite of they want.

What can we do for them?
Only sending money?
I don't have any ideas yet,but we must stop the child labor (including child soldier.)
